Prominent Daraa Based Activist Nasser Abu Jamal Killed

Anyone who watches many of the videos from Syria is probably familiar with this activist from Daraa, Nasser Abu Jamal

He's featured in many of the videos that have come from the Daraa region, including the well known video showing FSA fighters being taught how to use Croatian weapons

Graphic video was published show Nasser injured this week, and it's now been reported he has died from his injures
Media activist Abudl Naser al-Sahnbouri, aka Abu Jamal, was one of the uprising’s most prominent activists. He used to risk his life covering events on the front lines of the battles fought between the FSA and the criminal Assad’s troops in various parts of our beloved Daraa. He was injured many times before he died, whether because of violent bombardment or snipers’ fire; the last time before his death he was hit with a sniper bullet in his shoulder when he was in the town of Kafr Shams, covering the battle of “Izzaa”. Abu Jamal filmed many videos and toured various parts of Daraa. He was born in 1989 (the comments under the post say 1984), married with three kids. Prior to the uprising, he used to live in Damascus, but moved to Daraa with the start of the revolution in order to cover it and document the atrocities committed against the civilians and to convey the truth. Abu Jamal studied Sharia besides being an imam and an orator. A few days ago, the Islamist and FSA battalions announced the launching of an offensive dubbed “Uniting the Ranks” which was aimed at capturing the military checkpoints and barracks in the west of the province, and  to be followed by capturing Daraa city. Today, Abu Jamal was covering the fierce battles in the town of Tafas when he was injured by shrapnel in his belly. While he was being given first aid he asked those around him to take care of his wife and kids. Due to lack of medical staff in the field hospital he was later moved to Jordan where he died. His liver was severely injured. He died in Al-Jazeera hospital in Jordan.
Update October 5th EA Worldview has more information on him here.

  2. This asshole first sprang to notoriety when he was videoed prancing amongst the very recently murdered bodies of a large number of prisoners. There is every reason to believe he was instrumental in getting the "Martyrs of Al-Yarmouk" to carry out the murders simply for his later delectation.

See http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=f21_1380702081 for the aftermath and prequel videos.

I think Higgins posting this piece is very indicative of his attitude to Syria and his impartiality.

    1. I don't like murderers in the name of Islam nor anyone who supports them.

I have no problem with the majority of Muslims but I do seriously dislike Takfiris, Salafists, and Wahhbis.

      You?

    2. So because I highlight the death of a well known activist, someone many of my readers will be familiar with, I'm suddenly horribly biased in some way? I'm just saying he's dead, seems to me you're the one bringing along a load of baggage, and trying to put it on me.

    3. You posted a glowing Eulogy without comment.

In particular you made no comment on his intimate association with serious war-crimes that you knew of, or should have known of.

I think that's a valid point for criticism of your coverage of Syrian affairs.

    4. I'm just saying he's dead, and that's the Facebook post confirming his death. I'm not taking sides on the issue, if you have any comments to make about him feel free.

    5. So are you saying that you had no idea Nasser Abu Jamal was intimately associated with a war-crime?

Or did you choose to not mention it?

    6. As I just said "I'm just saying he's dead, and that's the Facebook post confirming his death."

He's well known to a lot of people who read my blog, so I assumed they'd be interested to know about his death.

Feel free to make any comments about the man here in the comments.

    7. There are some people so determined to push the narrative that Brown Moses is biased, that they will attach that narrative to absolutely any post here, to the point of utter absurdity.

Well, you do insist on calling him an activist.

  3. According to Brown Moses,Bashar al Assad is a genocidal authoritarian ( actually he happens to be an authoritarian head of state) maniac who eats children for breakfast, but courtesy of the same twisted logic, there is an alchemical transmutation that turns psychotic religious murderers into "activists".Brown Moses,at least you are not even trying to hide your bias anymore. You have achieved something.

    1. Can you provide a link to the Brown Moses post accusing President Assad of eating children for breakfast?

    2. This blog has failed to point out that President Assad is a pluralist and therefore possilly the most civilized of all the Arab leaders.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Teodoro_Obiang_Nguema_Mbasogo_with_Obamas.jpg

For example, one would be hard pushed to find President Assad in a group photo like the above.
